World Explained

Every few years an app shows up that makes the whole internet stop and look. Right now, that app is Muse AI.

Meta launched Muse on September 8, 2026 — and it did not grow quietly. It crossed 900,000 downloads in its first six days, briefly jumped above ChatGPT to become the number one free app on the US App Store, and passed 2.5 million downloads in about two weeks. So what exactly is it, why is everyone trying to sign up, and what is this "1 billion free tokens" offer people keep posting about? Here is the full picture, in plain words.

What is Muse AI?

Muse is Meta's personal AI agent. That word "agent" is the important part.

A normal chatbot answers your question and then stops — you still have to do the actual work yourself. Muse is built to do the work. You give it a task, and it goes off and completes it: booking a trip, sending an email, filling in a form, finding a product and buying it with your approval. It keeps working even after you close the app, and messages you when it needs a decision.

Think of it less like a search box and more like a digital assistant who actually finishes jobs.

What can Muse actually do?

Muse AI personal agent app - what Muse can do

Once you connect your accounts — one at a time, and only the ones you approve — Muse can work across them. Early users connect things like Gmail and Google Calendar for inbox sorting and scheduling, Spotify for music, and shopping and travel services for bookings and purchases.

Real tasks people are using it for include turning a saved social media recipe into a shopping list, building an action plan for a long-term goal, sending invitations, comparing prices before a purchase, and chasing refunds or forgotten subscriptions. Payments and anything sensitive always stop for your approval first — Muse asks before it spends or sends.

You can also use Muse inside WhatsApp, as well as in its own iOS, Android and Mac apps and on the web at muse.ai. And yes, you pick a name for your agent when you start.

Muse Wonder: the new brain everyone is talking about

Muse runs on Meta's Muse model family. The everyday model is Muse Spark (the current version is Muse Spark 1.3). On October 12, 2026, Meta announced Muse Wonder — its most capable model yet, built for exactly the kind of long, multi-step jobs a personal agent handles: planning, using tools, and reasoning through messy real-life tasks instead of single questions.

That announcement is a big reason "Muse AI" searches spiked again this month: people want to know what the new model changes. The short version — paid plans run on the stronger models, and Meta says Wonder is designed to feel noticeably better at finishing complicated work, not just chatting.

How to sign up for Muse AI

Signing up takes a few minutes:

  1. Install the Muse app (iOS or Android), open the Mac app, or go to muse.ai on the web.
  2. Create your account with an email address, phone number, or your Meta account.
  3. Enter your date of birth — you must be 18 or older.
  4. Pick a name for your personal agent and follow the short intro.
  5. Connect only the accounts you are comfortable with — you can add more later.

One catch: Muse is currently available in the United States, Canada and Japan. If you live somewhere else, the sign-up will not complete yet — more on that below.

The 1 billion free tokens invite offer, explained

Fresh Muse redeem code (updated October 24, 2026):

DQFXSA

Sign up first, then within 48 hours go to Settings > General > Redeem invite code and enter DQFXSA. We both receive 1 billion Muse tokens.

The loudest Muse trend right now is invite codes. Here is how the offer works, based on what users are reporting:

When a new user signs up and then enters an invite code within 48 hours (in Settings, under General, "Redeem invite code"), both people — the new user and the person who shared the code — receive 1 billion Muse tokens, listed on accounts as never expiring. Tokens are simply the unit Muse uses to measure how much work you can ask it to do, so 1 billion is a very large top-up on top of the free plan's weekly limit. One account can invite up to 20 people, which is why codes are everywhere on social media right now.

A word of advice: only use codes from people you trust, and never pay anyone for a code — the offer is free by design.

"You can't create a new account" — why Muse sign-up fails

Thousands of people are searching for this error right now. If Muse refuses your sign-up, it is usually one of these reasons:

  • Your country is not supported yet. Muse is live in the US, Canada and Japan only. Outside those countries, account creation is blocked at this step no matter what you enter.
  • The date of birth makes you under 18. Muse is 18+. Also check the format: the form expects the US style, month first (MM/DD/YYYY). Entering day first can flip the numbers and make the system read a wrong — sometimes underage — date.
  • The date of birth on your Meta account is wrong. If a different birth date is saved on your linked Meta/Facebook account, it can override what you type.
  • The email was already used in an earlier attempt. Repeated tries can leave the address flagged; trying a completely fresh email sometimes helps — but do not create fake accounts, which risks a ban.
  • The app is outdated. Update Muse from your app store and try again.

If you are in a supported country, over 18, and the details are right, sign-up normally goes through in minutes.

Is Muse AI free?

Yes — there is a free plan with a weekly usage limit, which is enough for most people's everyday tasks. For heavier use there are paid monthly plans (reported at $20 and $100 tiers) with much larger limits and access to the strongest models. The invite-code tokens sit on top of your plan and, according to users' account screens, do not expire.

Muse vs Meta AI: not the same thing

This confuses a lot of people. The Meta AI you meet inside WhatsApp or Instagram is a chatbot: it answers questions and makes images, but it does not run your tasks. Muse is the separate personal agent product — it needs its own account, connects to your apps with your permission, and keeps working in the background after you leave the chat. If the assistant you are talking to cannot check your inbox or book anything, you are talking to Meta AI, not Muse.

Muse AI vs ChatGPT: what is the difference?

This is the comparison everyone actually wants, because ChatGPT is the name the whole world already knows.

What they are. ChatGPT is a conversational AI: you ask, it answers — explanations, essays, code, ideas, study help. Muse is a personal agent: you assign it a job, and it goes and does the job inside the apps and accounts you connect.

Getting things done. With ChatGPT, you get the plan and the words — you still do the clicking, booking and sending yourself. Muse fills the forms, sends the email, books the trip and buys the item with your approval, and it keeps working in the background after you close the app.

Where you can use them. ChatGPT works in its apps and on the web in most of the world. Muse works in its own apps, on the web and inside WhatsApp — but sign-up is limited to the US, Canada and Japan for now, which is its biggest weakness today.

Price. Both are free to start. ChatGPT's main paid plan is $20 a month. Muse's paid tiers are reported at $20 and $100 a month — and its free plan currently gets that huge invite top-up of 1 billion tokens, which ChatGPT has no equivalent of.

Best at. ChatGPT is best for questions, writing, learning and brainstorming. Muse is best for errands and life admin: inbox clean-ups, bookings, shopping, reminders and follow-ups.

The verdict. They are not really rivals — one thinks and talks, the other does. The fact that Muse briefly pushed past ChatGPT to number one on the US App Store shows how many people want an AI that finishes the job, not just describes it. Plenty of people will end up using both.

The bottom line

Muse AI is trending for a simple reason: it is the first mainstream AI that does tasks instead of just talking about them, and the invite-token rush has turned sign-up into a race. If you are in the US, Canada or Japan, it is free to try. If you are elsewhere, the honest answer is "not yet" — and any site promising a shortcut around the region block is asking you to risk your account.
